Anant Pai, a freshman at Harvard University, is a youth advocate for tolerance. After having racial slurs hurled at him and a turban-wearing friend, he was disillusioned with the state of race relations in his community. He took action by becoming the president of California Cultures for Youth. Through the organization, Anant has been able to mediate dialogue between people of different backgrounds and coordinate volunteer events to bring people together. He has been honored by ABC7 News, the AXA Achievement Community Scholarship, the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, and the Prudential Spirit of Community Award for his work. In a time when racial tensions are at an all-time high, his message of acceptance and tolerance is key in working toward a better future.
